The Boat

23 Foot Sea Ox Cuddy Cabin.

Depth Finder, Chart Plotter, GPS, Loran, Dual Radios, Coast Guard Safety Package, 225 HP Yamaha Outboard,

Fish two anglers comfortably.  Three is tough. Four is out of the question. Turns will have to be taken for lines in the water.

The boat leaves out of the Englewood Boat Basin, Englewood, N. J.  Just north of the George Washington Bridge on the Jersey side.

Tackle - All tackle supplied.  If you have a favorite Rod & Reel Bring it!

chaos Rods, G-Loomis Rods, St Croix Rods, Fenwick Rods, Custom made Rods by Chas Stamm.   All light action equipment.

Shimano Calcutta 400 Reels, Penn International 965 Reels, Shimano TLD and Charter Special Reels Conventional Reels and Spinning Gear.

Conventional reels work better than spinning reels for 90 % of our tactics.  That is...drifting and fishing in close contact with the bottom.   When blues are working the surface, we pull out the light spinning tackle and cast plugs for some great surface action.  We are opportunistic fishing.  We are prepared for what the water offers us at any given time.  We hope!

Catch and release is practiced all the time.

Photos will be taken and your fish released unless an angler insists on taking a fish home.

If that is the case they will clean it themselves.

Baits

Live bait when possible. Live eels, Fresh Bunker, Charlie Rigs, Artificials.

Locations

I fish in and around lower Manhattan, NYC. The Battery, Bayridge Flats, Jersey Flats, East River, Vz. Bridge, Norton's Point, Coney Island, Statue of Liberty & all the bridges around NYC.

        Tactics & Fishing Philosophy

Because of the techniques we use, more than two anglers get in the way of each other.  I fish currents.  Sometimes the boat spins around and with more than two lines in the water it becomes more untangling than fishing.  Experienced anglers are not required but it helps!   With a 23 foot boat, it gets a bit crowded with four or more anglers if you have more than three anglers, I would  suggest using the Weigh-Point Sport Fishing with the larger boat for fishing the lower harbor.

90% of my fishing is drifting.  Drifting over structure.  Sometimes in the spring and summer I will anchor up and chunk for bass and blues.
I encourage "Catch and Release."  Particularly with the striped bass.  Occasionally I will keep a weakfish or fluke but 99% of my fish are photographed and released.

If you are looking to fill your cooler with fish to take home, this charter is not for you.

I key in on catching large fish.  Striped Bass and Bluefish.   I like that strong pull on the line and I enjoy watching a large fish swim out of my hands. Or your hands.  The larger the fish the better.
